Study on Esther- Week 2- Day 2
Scripture
Esther 2: 5-7
There in Susa lived a Jew named Mordecai son of Jair; he was from the tribe of Benjamin and was a descendant of Kish and Shimei. When King Nebuchadenezzar of Babylon took King Jehoiachin of Judah into exile from Jerusalem, along with a group of captives, Mordecai was among them. He had a cousin, Esther, whose Hebrew name was Hadassah; she was a beautiful girl, and had a good figure. At the death of her parents, Mordecai had adopted her and brought her up as his own daugther.
James: 1: 27
What God the Father considers to be pure and genuine religion is this: to take care of orphans and widows in their suffering and to keep oneself from being corrupted by the world.
Observation
To show kindness and open up ourselves to help others in need. This is what GOD wants of us. If it is within our capability we should do our best to assist others who need our support.
Application
It is not beyond oneself to help others who are in need. Be there as a listening ear or help out physically in making life easier for others if possible. Do not take advantage of others in their sufferings for your own benefit. That would be deception and indulging in worldly pleasures- lust, coveting others possessions etc.
Prayer
Dear GOD,
help me to be strong in my faith and seek to be pure in my actions. Keep me away from the corrupt ways of the world so that I can serve you better.
AMEN.
