Esther 4: 1-3

When Mordecai learned of all that had been done, he tore his clothes in anguish. Then he dressed in sackcloth, covered his head with ashes, and walked through the city, wailing loudly and bitterly, until he came to the entrance of the palace. He did not go in because no one wearing sackcloth was allowed inside. Throughout all the provinces, wherever the king’s proclamation was made known, there was loud mourning among the Jews. They fasted, wept, wailed, and most of them put on sackcloth and lay in ashes.

Psalm 51: 17

My sacrifice is a humble spirit , O God; you will not reject a humble and repentant heart.

Mordecai showed his sadness and surrendered himself to GOD awaiting him to save them from impending death from the proclamation. He fasted and made sacrifices to GOD and put 100% trust in him that he will save them.

Sacrifices are something which need to be done in order to show that one is repentant and willing to humble himself before GOD.  Only when one is willing to go the extra mile will he be able to reap the reward for the hard work done.

Dear GOD,

teach me how to be humble and willing to be repentant for all my sins.
