Scripture

Esther  6: 4-6

” Are any of my officials in the palace?”  the king asked. Now Haman had just entered the courtyard; he had come to ask the king to have Mordecai hanged on the gallows that was now ready. So the servant answered, ” Haman is here, waiting to see you.” “Show him in,” aid the king. So Haman came in, and the king said to him, ” There is someone I wish very much to honor. What should I do for this man?”  Haman thought to himself, ” Now who could the king want to honor so much” Me, of course.”

Proverbs 16: 18

Pride leads to destruction, and arrogance to downfall.

Observation

Haman assumed that the king was honoring him while in fact he was wanting to honor Mordecai who saved him.  He thought the world of himself and that he has done things that should be given credit openly. Little did he know that he would be courting his own doom.  He assumed that everything would go his way and be according to what he has planned which is HIS way instead of GOD’s way.

Application

One should not be so full of yourself and think so highly about oneself. It always pays to be humble. You are not more superior then others and shouldn’t think that way.

Prayer

Dear GOD ,

teach me not to be proud and arrogant. Make me humble and meek while carrying out my duties in accordance to your ways.

AMEN
