Book of Esther- Week 6- Day 4

October 9, 2014

Esther 6: 10-11

Then the king said to Haman, : Hurry and get the robes and the horse, and provide these honors for  Mordecai the Jew. Do everything for him that you have suggested. You will find him sitting at the entrance of the palace. So Haman got the robes and the horse, and he put the robes on Mordecai. Mordecai got on the horse, and Haman led him through the city square, announcing to the people as they went” See how the king rewards a man he wishes to honor!”

Proverbs 25: 6-7

When you stand before the king, don’t try to impress him and pretend to be important. It is better to be asked to take a higher position than to be told to give your place to someone more important.

Haman falsely assumed that the  King was honoring him so he asked for the best robes and best way of showing his superiority over others when in fact it was reserved for Mordecai the Jew who he hated.  He put himself so high on the pedestal that it was a really sharp and painful fall when he “fell” over in the end.

Don’t be too proud  and think so highly of yourself. Do not self promote yourself least you find yourself demoted in the end.

Dear GOD,

Let me not try too hard to impress others but let my actions do their own talking do the impression instead. Any promotion of blessings that I receive from you is a bonus and let me be worthy of them.
